Reasons I Am A Geek

Geeks aren't just 40-something male virgins who live in their mother's basements. I am often accused of being a geek and I am perfectly ok with that (well, I am a chick, it's not like it stops me getting any action).

I am a geek because:

1) I have serious debates about who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman. Mostly with myself.

2) When having said debates, I give an impassioned argument as to why the use of Red Kryptonite would actually be beneficial to Superman.

3) If you mess with my music collection, I'll break your fingers.

4) There is nothing Terry Gilliam could do to make me hate him.

5) I would give a limb (well, a couple of toes) for Buffy and Angel to be brought back.

6) Mostly because I wish I was a vampire slayer.

7) With a hot vampire boyfriend.


8) I am not the type of hip hop fan who listens to 50 Cent (ugh). I am the type of hip hop fan who will tell you the entire history of hip hop, listens to artists nobody else has ever heard of and can break down album by album why Tupac is overrated.

9) I quote Coen Brothers movies instead of answering questions. I am a smooth smoothie, you know.

10) Stan Lee is a fucking God.


11) Saying that, if I had to choose only one comic publisher to read forevermore (quoth the raven), it would be DC's baby Vertigo. Sure, DC's got the Green Lantern, who was based on Paul Newman. Not to mention Batman and Superman. And The Justice League rocks.
Marvel's got The X-Men, Iron Man and The Hulk. All awesome.

But Vertigo has the holy trinity of all that is wonderful in the world of the graphic novel:

Sandman
Hellblazer
Preacher.

Throw in V for Vendetta and all is right with the universe.

12) I did not have to google anything I said in no. 11. I actually know all that stuff.

13) If Watchmen sucks, I'm going to kill someone. Or at least complain loudly.

14) I think quantum physics is exciting. Even if I don't understand it.
